With the highly anticipated Battlefield 4 beta test kicking off today, AMD has pushed out their own driver update to coincide with the release of DICE’s multiplayer shooter.

Catalyst 13.10 Beta2 is the latest iteration on AMD’s current driver branch (13.200), started back with the Catalyst 13.8 betas. New to this version along with profiles and fixes for Battlefield 4 are profile updates for Total War: Rome II, Saints Row 4, and a few other games. AMD’s release note also make mention of “AMD CrossFire frame pacing improvements for CPU-bound applications” though they do not specify what those games are.

On the bug fix side of matters, 13.10 Beta2 fixes outstanding issues with Autodesk Inventor 2014, and some black screen sleep issues with AMD’s Enduro technology.

As always, you can pick up the drivers over at AMD’s support website.

I don't think arguing Vista is great when "paired with decent hardware and updated" nor mentioning 7 is based on Vista, therefore Vista was a great OS, says much about Vista.

Vista was a total disaster, 7 was what MS wanted, but instead they got Vista.

The main reason people didn't like Vista was because it just sucked. Plain and simple. I'm sorry. I can't even start to tell about all the people I switched over to 7 or back to XP, and I'm not going to rehash whats already available on the net about Vista's short comings.

My advice to OP: snap out of it!

Hell, I'm sure by just switching to 7, you'll see an improvement just about everywhere than getting this driver.

I hate to break this 2 you but Vista was the first 64 bit OS that actually worked, xp Pro was a complete disaster on the 64 bit front, a lot of enthusiasts know this and BTW 7 is Vista tweaked. Grant it 7 is completely worth the jump but when you plan out upgrade paths certain things take more priority when it comes to performance and 7 increased performance by a small margin, so Why? make the upgrade when you can spend the 180$ on a Samsung Pro SSD.

Mantle anybody? Does Mantle need to be included in the Catalyst driver package or what?
  • marc1000 - Tuesday, October 1, 2013 - link

I believe neither the driver nor the game are ready for mantle. MS may also want to have some period of exclusivity on this, to make the new console look better than the average PC for some time.

That is not going to happen, as long as the PC version supports greater resolutions than 1080p PC will always have more of an advantage especially at 4k that is about double the resolution that needs 1/6th the AA.
  • marc1000 - Tuesday, October 1, 2013 - link

yes, the PC will always have more power. but they may want the console to LOOK better for some time. it does not have to BE faster, as long as it just looks faster. ;)

ya i dont understand it . amd can still support XP, 7, 8, 8.1 but not vista i still use vista and from what i see is the newer games run on vista [bf4] dontg recall seeing XP , and my best gaming rig is vista . as like just4u i get full retail and have loaded vista on 4 builds and as of today the problon i have had with it now is amd. yes vista was odd, buggy and what ever when it first came out but now it works real good and my benches are as good as my 7 rig. and i think the display on the monitor with vista is better then 7. but why can they write a driver for XP and 7 and leave vista out? also the new amd a88x chipsets fully support XP but not vista i mean if i was to choose a OS on a new rig between XP and vista it sure as heck not XP dont rember seeing XP support for the new bf4 game . but what i think is your fixing to be forced to lasted ver.of windows and that os only.
