Jim Keller joined Mark Papermaster on stage at AMD's Core Innovation Update press conference and added a few more details to AMD's K12 announcement. Keller stressed AMD's expertise in building high frequency cores, as well as marrying the strengths of AMD's big cores with those of its low power cores. The resulting K12 core is a 64-bit ARM design, but Jim Keller also revealed that his team is working on a corresponding 64-bit x86 core.

The x86 counterpart doesn't have a publicly known name at this point, but it is a new design built from the ground up.

Fantastic at meaningless paper launches? Just for your info, the article is about AMD, not Nvidia. ;) And AM3+ is dead. People know that for quite some time. Welcome to 2014! It's really naive to expect a desktop socket to live more than 5 years.

for more info on paper launches, see kaveri. thanks for telling me what year it is. very useful info. more than 5 years, you say? naive, eh? by your maths, it's already been 5 years -- seeing that you can't discern the difference between am3 and am3+, and 2009 vs. 2011. with piledriver production slated to continue through 2015, that would be more than 5 years, by your counting. got any more pearls of wisdom?

In 2016 it will be 5 years for am3+, don't know if he meant that but this is only a roadmap like intel and Nvidia releases often to show us where they are going. We rarely get any precise information on these roadmaps.

The arguments ''go suck a butt'' and ''tell your mom to stop calling me'' should get you banned because this is a proof that your argumentation is weak and that you feel attacked by the computer hardware opinions like a ''groupie''...

Got any more pearls of wisdom like the two arguments I named above?
  • whickywhickyjim - Thursday, May 8, 2014 - link

yes. i'm not convinced that you understand the concept of an argument....
also, have fun on your crusade to ban commentors you disapprove of.

I'm nowhere near a crusade about banning internet bullying. I just think this has no reason to exist in forums like this one. This is a roadmap and you're making allusions about details AMD should give that no other company does with roadmaps like these.

Exactly, but, we should remember that if whicky doesn't like something, it's not allowed to exist

Wow, this whickywhickyjim guy is a ridiculous, huh? I'm showing everyone in the office his posts. This is priceless. LOAO!

Glad you're having fun bro, but the Intel Kool Aid is addictive

And to be frank no one gives a whit regarding your apparent butt hurt. It's about time AMD did a ground up design as opposed to making those still chugging along with a Phenom II board happy.

"Don't approve" buy Intel they change sockets like you "should" change your underwear
