I am waiting on a decent CF capadle mATX board. So far only the DFI Lanparty Jr fits the bill. There are at least 3 i7 dual PCIe 16x boards, why only one for AMD ?
Happy face at seeing the 6Gb/s controller, should help with upcoming SSDs.
Next up: PCI-E 3.0 slots (X68 hopefully) and expresscard v2 (just wish that moved the width to a x4 PCI-E v3 connection to give eGPU a chance. Itd be the bandwidth as a gen 1 x16 slot or a gen 2 x8 slot).
It is good to see my next choice in brands seemingly doing it "right". Subjective, yeah I know, because revisions should really be done before the first product ships. Hard to make money that way perhaps, but being the buyer it is my responcability to research mothersboards, and then purchasing them after I hopefully make a sound decision. *Not* to beta test a piece of hardware.
Anyways, here is to hoping they actually do the right thing, and that they can win over a few of us once die hard ABIT customers. I know one thing for sure, Asrock sure will not be seeing any of my hard earned cash in the future . . . Cheat me once, your bad, cheat me twice, my bad, and that sort of thing.
Glad to see the Marvell SATA controllers, and good riddance to the JMicron ones. Gigabyte are finally including auxiliary SATA controllers I'd actually want to use.
When will these hit the market? I am going to be buying an i7 mobo in the next couple months and I would rather wait for one of these new revisions.
I hope they differentiate between revisions or else it may be difficult to determine which revision some online retailers will ship.
Does it bug anyone else that they don't seem to want to revise any of their 1336 boards to have more than 1 spare slot inbewteen the first and second PCIe x16 slots? O.o
What is that slot on the GA-EP55-UD3R(2nd picture from the bottom) above the PATA header? It looks like it could accept a SODIMM (laptop ram). I wonder what they would use that for...
I've seen three pictures of P55 motherboards supporting braidwood, two with NVRAM slots like this one and one that showed an xdp-pch port, looks as though they'll be sticking to the NVRAM slot, hopefully we're not all having to pay intel prices for proprietary cards for it as an on-board NVRAM cache could be a readily usable addition to current motherboards, especially in the HD era of files getting ever larger. A decent sized NVRAM onboard cache with a decent pre-fetcher program with a decent SSD in the system could virtually remove the storage bottleneck we've been in for years.
Some quick questions, has there been any sightings of the mythical SB800? It was supposed to launch with the RS880/785G but I haven't seen anything about it yet.
Also, does AMD plan on launching the 785G's enhanced core with a higher clockspeed... perhaps as a 700mhz '795GX' type?
Finally, RD890, AMD's new highend chipset. Still a no show?
U r the best reviewer there is no doubt...I am situated in india..While going thru this article i found out that ex58a-ud5 is a 24 phase power based mobo..Aur yahan par ex58a-ud5 jo model hai is a 12 phase based mobo..i even checked it out on newegg .and there too in specifications its clearly mentioned that this mobo is a 12 phase mobo....

The GA-EP55-UD3R appears to have a floppy port, an IDE port, and something else with lots of pins. What is that for?haplo602 - Monday, June 8, 2009 - link

Gigabyte really doesn't have too good a history with their BIOS. Even with my socket 775 board it took a few months for the reboot of death to stop.ilkhan - Sunday, June 7, 2009 - link

I have to agree with your point.Casper42 - Sunday, June 7, 2009 - link
Too bad the SATA3 specs didn't make it into the P55.The Specs are final and P55 doesn't ship for a few more months.

Looks like a Mini PCIe slot to me.Neat idea too.
You can stick a WiFi, WWAN or even Small SSD into that slot.
Perhaps they mean it for the Small SSD and it links up with some of the Smart6 features mentioned in the beginning of the article.

I'd like to know the answers to all these questions myself, along with why the 785G is named 785G instead of 795G.These would make great Q&A sessions questions with AMD...good for AMD, good for AnandTech, and good for us.

All the new stuff looks amazing. How much <a href="http://www.accessministorage.ca/storage.html"... does it all have ? Can it run a for awhile without being shut down?
