Elgato sent over info on its brand new Thunderbolt SSD available in February in 120GB and 240GB capacities. There's no word on the controller inside. If I had to speculate based on the capacities alone it sounds a lot like SandForce but it honestly could be anyone. The external drive is entirely bus powered and will retail for a hefty $429.95 for the 120GB model and $699.95 for the 240GB version.
I'm still waiting for someone to make a BYOD external Thunderbolt chassis though...

Elgato???? Is that seriously the company's name? I guess they don't speak Spanish ("el gato" means "the cat" in Spanish)Master-Piece - Monday, January 9, 2012 - link

... but after testing a single 6Gb/s OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD in the LaCie LBD Thunderbolt enclosure, I get similar transfer speeds (256MB/s). However, the single 6G SSD transfer speed of the Promise Pegasus R4 is 471MB/s. That may indicate that the LaCie and Elgato have the same chipset.
