Unlike Slot-1/Socket-370 motherboards, most, if not all of the KT133/KT133A motherboards have come down in price with some significant drops. Currently, our recommend KT133A board, the Iwill KK266, actually runs cheaper than our recommended KT133 board the ABIT KT7-RAID. This makes the KT133A choice all the more enticing since prices have fallen for all the boards we list in this bunch. In addition, the KT133A offers a nice performance jump over its KT133 cousin since it supports a 266MHz FSB.
We've added a new board to the KM133 bunch which is the ASUS A7VI-VM which we recently recommended in our Value Systems Guide for a Value Small Office/Home Office system. KM133 prices have otherwise dropped with several boards.
Not too much has changed
with our DDR Socket-A motherboards with the exception of some new motherboards,
the Biostar M7MIA, and the MSI K7 Master. So far, the K7 Master has done
well in preliminary tests and performs just as well as its ASUS counterpart.
However, the AMD 760 chipset is currently the most reliable DDR platform
currently available for Socket A processors but eventually it will be phased
out as chipsets from VIA, SiS, and ALi become more commonplace.
