In an industry where a "review" is typically a guy repeating the product's feature list, Anandtech spits out reviews that should actually be called "reviews."
Well said, it has been my go to site for complete and unbiased reviews for most of the years he has had it up and running. Highly commendable work and has brought a great team around him to continue the work! 3 Cheers for the Birthday boy!!!
In light of the most recent Apple product review, yes that was kind of a funny comment... Though rather inappropriate for this specific post on the website. Maybe you should have saved it for a different time where it was perhaps in better taste xP
Thanks for starting and carrying on with the most excellent tech/review site out there. One that has, for me, been practically a daily visit for nearly a decade and a half.
Just wanted to chime in with another Happy Birthday! I've been an avid Anandtech reader for over ten years and it is hands down the best tech website on the internet. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication in making Anandtech what it is today. You and all the staff of Anandtech are extremely respected and appreciated.
Happy birthday anand! I've been coming here for high quality reviews, news stories and inside scoops for a while now, and you very rarely dissapoint :) Here's to another 15 years!
Looking forward to read what you write another 30 years so take a moment and contemplate and enjoy the fact that you have managed to become one of the most influental tech writers in the world and that you are only 30.
Happy Birthday Anand! Your site touches more lives than you know and is without a doubt the most professional and trustworthy hardware info site on the web.
I don't usually post, but I've been reading Anandtech just about every day for many years. I expect to be reading for many more. Thank you Anand, and Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday Anand! Well deserved vacation, thanks for all the work that you've put into AT over the years... I've been reading it for almost as long as it's been around and the site continues to put out some of the most comprehensive and in depth reviews and articles anywhere, keep up the great work!
Seriously though been reading Anandtech for over 10 years due to your passion and commitment into providing some of the best analysis of the hardware we all know and sort of love. :)
Happy birthday Anand. This place isn't perfect, but it's IMHO the best site on the internet for quality unbiased reviews, which is a heck of an accomplishment!
Wow, its been a long time. I remember being amazed when the site announced your 18th birthday. I was amazed that this site that had been my homepage for over a year was started by someone so young. At the time I had no idea. Anyhow, 12 years later, through Netscape Navigator, Communicator, Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox and now Chrome... and many many PC's built, rebuilt, re-imaged and replaced, I always put Anandtech back as my start page. Here's to another dozen.
Well, I've been following Anandtech since 1997! And it's been such a great ride ever since. Anandtech has now become my daily dose of tech news. Here to Anand for all the great works he had done, is doing and will do for us in the coming years. Keep up the great work everyone. Thank you!
So, our great editor is 30 huh. Happy Birthday and may you live long. Because i want reviews from you till I turn 30!!! ( I am 14 btw) :D !!! Just joking. And start using some face cream. You look older than you are. ;)
Happy Birthday Anand. I have been going to Anandtech on a daily basis for the last decade and hands down find your site to be the best! Thank you for you dedication to your craft.
Your organization has probably saved me hundreds of dollars by directing me to intelligent purchases.
I have probably also wasted thousands of hours reading reviews about every gadget, component, chip set ,... you name it; just like a kid waiting for the newest movie or latest comic book. There must be a 12 step program available for most or your subscribers.
Finally, as a member of the New Orleans community, I remember your asking all your readers to keep us in thier thoughts immediately after Katrina. Most of us want several months without television, phones or even electricity. Communicating via internet was literally a life saver for all of us. ------------ Happy Birthday!!!
. . . you were only 30!!!! I've been reading your articles most of the last 15 years, and I'm shocked and amazed that all this time I've been unknowingly been reading the hyper-intelligent ramblings of such a young whippersnapper!!!! :P
You have been an inspiration for me my whole life. I've been reading your articles for longer than I can remember. I could even say I owe my job to you. Without everything that I learned from your website, I would probably have never gotten my job.
Not to be age-ist or anything but it's also really impressive what you have accomplished even though you're 2 years younger than me! For some odd reason I always thought that you were older than me.
In any case, I hope you're enjoying your Birthday. Thank you for everything that you and your staff have taught me.
I've been reading Anandtech since something like 1999, and it's been on my list of sites-to-check-every-day for years. It's my number one most trusted source for hardware news and info, and that's due largely to the integrity and skill of Anand, who has built such an amazing team around him. Here's to another 15 years!
Yes, I remember now. Everyone was amazed at how a 14 year old has got his hand on the latest AMD CPU before release and reviewed it. It is good that he has kept the same enthusiasm, to the benefit of those who visit this site.
Cheers to the man who created the best technical review site around. Its so nice to have a site that actually digs into the nitty gritty technical details and statistical comparisons and not just the emotional response they get from the colors/brand name on the box.
Keep it up! And cheers to your selection of staff as well!
You've been writing excellent reviews for so long, I figured you were older than 30 by now. I'm a very pleased reader and have been for many years! Have a great vacation.
Hi An and, for long I had been wondering how you will look. Today I know this and really amazing how your team is posting without rest, three cheers to you and the team - I am sure you are proud of them.
I do monthly gadget article in my company's in-house magazine, and your site is immensely helpful in keeping me abreast.
Happy birthday Anand! I have been a daily reader of your site for the past 8 years! This is probably the most insightful tech website at present :) Keep em coming!
Your site has really helped us who are interested in the computer industry understand its developments. It is my #1 source for tech news. Thank you for all you do!
I've been reading Anandtech for most of its 15+ years and have come to rely upon Team Anand for the best reviews and insight over any other tech site. The forums consistently amaze me with the wealth of information and willingness of others to share their experience (or to engage in the occasional flame war).
Thank you, Anand, for your hard work and dedication to putting together the best tech site, hands down, on the Web. A very happy birthday!
Wow, I didn't even realize Anand is younger than me (being 32 myself) as I've been regularly visiting this site for what feels like ages. So happy birthday to you and enjoy the well earned vacation :-)
Wow, I thought Anand was closer to around my age (age withheld :-P). I recall around 10 years ago talking with a friend about how Anandtech was beginning to displace Tom's as my go-to tech resource. I had no idea that Anand was only 20 at the time!
Sure, the tech news options have increased, and if I want some snark with my (mostly pseudo-) tech journalism, I can go to Engadget or Gizmodo. But when I want thoughtful analysis of industry trends, or exhaustive, rigorous reviews of hardware, with no BS and no bias, Anandtech is still my main resource.
Thanks for such great work, kiddo! Here's to hoping the next 30 years treat you as well as your first 30.
Although I read your site since about 2000 I just registered to wish you Happy Birthday Anand and congratulate you and all your colleagues for the great job you're doing. This site is my number one on the Speed dial because you're thinking like me and I know that I can trust your reviews, which is a very rare thing nowadays. Thank you guys for informing and teaching me, keep up the good work and please don't change the way you are and think! You're the best! John from Romania
One of my favorite tech sites for over 10 years - thanks for all the hard work and good info! Keep up the good work and enjoy your 30th birthday & well-earned vacation!!
never posted a comment here before, but signing up and posting a Happy Birthday is the least I can do for what you've given me- all the hundreds of excellent pieces of advise that come from thousands of hours of your hard work!
God bless you. Your talent, passion and sincerity have changed my life for the better. Not a day passes before I read Anandtech. Thank you! You're inspiring!
I have been coming to this site ever since it was hosted on GeoCities. Anand is the reason I am changing my career to one in programming and the strength to relocate from the UK to the US where the majority of my extended family live.
He showed the future and the possbilities that companies like Intel, Apple, Nvidia and AMD have brought and continue to bring.
Anandtech has been my homepage for over 10 years so Anand is a person I very much respect and admire.
I've had much fun reading the site over the last ~15 years, primarily for the fact that Anand (and those he's added over the years) has always found a way to consistently go above and beyond what the other tech review sites offer. I believe much of that difference is due to the fact that Anandtech truly qualifies as an enthusiast site - it's clear that Anand and staff truly enjoy the realm of computing and documenting its progress. I still remember reading through those early reviews to settle upon which motherboard and processor to get for my first build - oh how long ago that 233MHz K6 was.
Anyway, happy birthday Anand, and here's to hoping that you continue being a driving force in the industry for many years to come!
I usually never post on any website but will make an exception this time.
I have been following this site since the dawn of Internet in 1997(wasn't it earlier?)....anandtech has always been my source of information. I'm turning 30 myself in just two months so this is somewhat special. Ive been through it all. 3Dfx voodoo, the legendary celeron 300A@450, the Athlon era, the list goes on..Thanks Anand.
Most other sites are a joke compared. Just look at the latest MacBook retina reviews. Anand is in a different universe in terms of technical expertise, quality and testing. Sometimes I wonder if Anand is the only real pure tech journalist in existence who knows what he is talking about with the perfect mix of subjective and objective judgment,
Hey man, happy birthday. Keep up the great work, and try not to kill yourself over the site. Other writers here, you're doing great, too. Just not as great as Anand.
Happy Birthday Anand! I've been reading your site since the beginning and I can't tell you how many purchasing decisions it has helped me make over the years! Probably because nobody offers the same in-depth analysis, extreme testing and benchmarking and overall tech wisdom as Anand and crew.
Manny happy returns Anand. And well done to all of you here for running the best tech site on the net! :)
I've been a reader of this website since 1999 or so, but never felt the need to register until today.
That's because I'm more of a reader than a writer, specially since english isn't my native language, but I just had to wish you a happy birthday and say thank you for having gived me so much interesting news and reviews during all this time, asking nothing in return.
Happy Birthday, Anand! I think I started reading Anandtech when I was younger than 14 (probably since the age of 10), but it's fascinating to think that Anand's been PRODUCING and publishing this stuff since such a young age!
But I have to ask... is that first picture supposed to be Anand at 14 years old?! Because he would have been one mature looking 14 year old! :O
Time flies, it has already been 16 years since you established this famous AnandTech website.
With continuous efforts of hard work & outstanding knowledge, you have brought AnandTech to it's great size & reputation today together with your team.
You have made remarkable contributions & continue to inspired many more in the Computing & I.T. communities.
Wishing you All the Best & enjoy your Wonderful birthday vacation with your loved ones! Take care & have fun! :)
As a 10+ years anandtech.com reader, let me thank you for all the ways you contributed to our understanding of the IT scene. I wish you many happy celebrations!
Happy Birthday for the man who made the best tech site on the web imo. Been following it for more then ten years! Still keeping up the pace with good in dept analysis beyond the products.
AT is certainly the best Tech Site on the web, perhaps the best site on the web period. I've been an avid reader since the early days and it's been a great ride. I had the pleasure of meeting Anand at a Circuit City or one of the other now out of business brick and mortar PC stores in the greater Raliegh Durham area. I can say he as as nice in person as he is on the web, extremely polite and a true enthusiast. I remember having a short conversation with him about 3DFX Voodoo 3D cards versus at the time, the newly released Nvidia Riva 128. He sure has come a long way...
Wow, I just can't believe you're thirty now. I joined the site when I was sixteen and looking to build an overclocked P4 in 2000 or so... the IT manager at my school told me to go to Anandtech for help with my build! I can't believe you were only 18 at the time.
To this day when a new product launches, I will glance at reviews over at engadget etc., but I wait for the Anandtech review before I even think about purchasing. Thank you for over a decade of the most professional and thorough reviews. You deserve your success and I hope you had a great thirtieth!
I've been an AnandTech visitor for 8-9 years now, and it's been my "go to" website for tech news. As others have stated, in an era when "reviews" are just regurgitated spec sheets or press releases, Anand (and his team) have always created wonderfully detailed and technical reviews and articles. Anand has shown that he cares about the work he produces, and I consider this site to be the best site on the internet when it comes to SSD reviews. Keep up the great work!
I never realized Anand was a couple years younger than me.
That means Anand was probably a Freshman when I was reading Anadtech in 1997 during high school, choosing components for my first build : http://www.jdhodges.com/2010/01/building-computers... (Tyan motherboard, Pentium II 233MHz, SCSI hard drives...)
Thanks for all the hard work Anand, your site is one of my all time favorites to visit!!!
anandtech is an amazing achievement. its the best and most reliable site on the web. even though i'm not even in the tech industry i end up checking your site 4-5 times a day at least.
I hope you had a great birthday. I have spent many a pleasurable hour on Anandtech, being a member since 1998. Thanks starting the best tech website on the net.
I don't know how long I have been reading Anandtech but I am pretty sure it was right around 1999 when I stumbled upon this site. I subscribed to CPU magazine for a couple of years to read Anand's monthly column (before they lost all their writers and turned it into a zombie mag).
But anyway, Anand answers emails from Joe-Blow readers (like me). As intelligent and well-regarded as he is - he strikes me as a humble, centered man ... and I just wanted to say "thanks" for making the world a little better place ... not only from the perspective of your fine work but also for being a good guy in a world of really big egos.
I'm one year and one week older than you, and I've been reading and enjoying your stuff since I was in college. Happy Birthday, and keep up the awesome work!
Hope you had a great birthday! Excellent site from day 1. I can't believe I was reading your stuff in the late 90's and telling all how great the information was! Keep up the fantastic work!
Let me join in with the others in wishing you a happy birthday, Anand. Your work here has helped me build better computers for myself and my family. I appreciate your efforts to provide unbiased reviews of products that push suppliers to make constant improvements in price and quality.
Hello Anand sir! Happy Birthday! I like anandtech and the reviews you and your team post on your site! Indian tech review sites like thinkdigit.com should learn something from anandtech who just use old versions of software and fool people. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

Double agreed! To paraphrase James Carville, 'It's the context, stupid.'Anandtech articles are great because they're both as deep as anything you can get elsewhere as well as broader.
Thanks for making the Internet a better place, Anand. (And everyone else who works at AT)
PS: Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Anand!Your site has really helped us who are interested in the computer industry understand its developments. It is my #1 source for tech news. Thank you for all you do!

Great work over the years Anand. I've been reading your stuff since nearly the beginning. I'm slightly younger than you, but your maturity is great.I would say one thing: more video reviews! You speak very clearly and concisely.

I've been reading Anandtech for most of its 15+ years and have come to rely upon Team Anand for the best reviews and insight over any other tech site. The forums consistently amaze me with the wealth of information and willingness of others to share their experience (or to engage in the occasional flame war).Thank you, Anand, for your hard work and dedication to putting together the best tech site, hands down, on the Web. A very happy birthday!

Wow, I didn't even realize Anand is younger than me (being 32 myself) as I've been regularly visiting this site for what feels like ages.So happy birthday to you and enjoy the well earned vacation :-)
l3bowsk1 - Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - link
Wow, I thought Anand was closer to around my age (age withheld :-P). I recall around 10 years ago talking with a friend about how Anandtech was beginning to displace Tom's as my go-to tech resource. I had no idea that Anand was only 20 at the time!Sure, the tech news options have increased, and if I want some snark with my (mostly pseudo-) tech journalism, I can go to Engadget or Gizmodo. But when I want thoughtful analysis of industry trends, or exhaustive, rigorous reviews of hardware, with no BS and no bias, Anandtech is still my main resource.
Thanks for such great work, kiddo! Here's to hoping the next 30 years treat you as well as your first 30.

This site is my number one on the Speed dial because you're thinking like me and I know that I can trust your reviews, which is a very rare thing nowadays.Thank you guys for informing and teaching me, keep up the good work and please don't change the way you are and think!
You're the best!

I have been coming to this site ever since it was hosted on GeoCities. Anand is the reason I am changing my career to one in programming and the strength to relocate from the UK to the US where the majority of my extended family live.He showed the future and the possbilities that companies like Intel, Apple, Nvidia and AMD have brought and continue to bring.
Anandtech has been my homepage for over 10 years so Anand is a person I very much respect and admire.
Keep it up dude you have a loyal fan here!
Khato - Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - link
I've had much fun reading the site over the last ~15 years, primarily for the fact that Anand (and those he's added over the years) has always found a way to consistently go above and beyond what the other tech review sites offer. I believe much of that difference is due to the fact that Anandtech truly qualifies as an enthusiast site - it's clear that Anand and staff truly enjoy the realm of computing and documenting its progress. I still remember reading through those early reviews to settle upon which motherboard and processor to get for my first build - oh how long ago that 233MHz K6 was.Anyway, happy birthday Anand, and here's to hoping that you continue being a driving force in the industry for many years to come!
mcn2000 - Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - link
I usually never post on any website but will make an exception this time.I have been following this site since the dawn of Internet in 1997(wasn't it earlier?)....anandtech has always been my source of information.
Sometimes I wonder if Anand is the only real pure tech journalist in existence who knows what he is talking about with the perfect mix of subjective and objective judgment,
Oh and Happy Birthday!

There are several things that set Anand apart from other reviewers:- a knack for asking interesting questions or pointing out aspects of products that others did not notice or understand
- a very good sense of where the industry as a whole is going
- care for the people who will base a purchasing decisions on his advice ( see http://www.anandtech.com/show/3391 )
- deep understanding of the way things work: Anand is smart, curious and has accumulated amazing knowledge over years of hard work
- respect towards the people who create the things he reviews
- willingness to delay publication of articles for days in order to raise their quality
- and yes, contagious passion.
Happy birthday Anand. Thanks for everything.

have a good birthday, broheimdall

Cheers !

Happy Birthday, Anand! I think I started reading Anandtech when I was younger than 14 (probably since the age of 10), but it's fascinating to think that Anand's been PRODUCING and publishing this stuff since such a young age!But I have to ask... is that first picture supposed to be Anand at 14 years old?! Because he would have been one mature looking 14 year old! :O

He sure has come a long way...Happy Birthday Anand and here's to many more!

Wow, I just can't believe you're thirty now. I joined the site when I was sixteen and looking to build an overclocked P4 in 2000 or so... the IT manager at my school told me to go to Anandtech for help with my build! I can't believe you were only 18 at the time.To this day when a new product launches, I will glance at reviews over at engadget etc., but I wait for the Anandtech review before I even think about purchasing.

Keep up the great work!coolhardware - Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - link
I never realized Anand was a couple years younger than me.That means Anand was probably a Freshman when I was reading Anadtech in 1997 during high school, choosing components for my first build :
