We just got word from Corel that the WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray update pack now offers full support for the Intel G45 chipset including repeater capabilities.  The upgrade pack can be downloaded for current users of the product at this location - 9.0.14.91.63207. We will have test results shortly.

Update -
HDMI repeater capability is working on the Pioneer VSX-94TXH, Denon AVR-3808ci, and Onkyo TX-SR606 receivers while playing back "The Simpsons Movie" blu-ray title.  We are utilizing the Gigabyte EG45M-DS2H MB, Intel E1200 CPU, and a Gateway FHD-2401 monitor for the tests.  However, we are still experiencing difficulties at 1920x1080 with the latest Intel 15.11.1537 driver on our Gateway XHD3000 and Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP monitors.  Additional updates will be coming as we complete audio and monitor compatibility testing.

Where is the Linux reviews of Intel X4500HD/MHD? Somebody must support Linux hardware acceleration some where.

I have read that review when they made it available. That review still doesn't cover hardware video acceleration on Linux using the X4500HD/MHD :( They only mention it when using the hardware on Windows, but no H.264/MPEG4-10 type hardware acceleration exists on Linux as of yet :'(

    Is it a microwave repeater?

Is it like a broken record that skips and keeps repeating?

How did we assume everyone knows what a software product has to do with repeating on a particular chipset?

    Wait...
Do you mean the little button that rewinds 5-10 seconds on a player with a button push?

I guess I am waiting for more info since I don't see what is exciting about this info just yet.

Well it fixes the HDMI repeater capability which you need when you connect your HDMI to your HT receiver that get the sound and send the video to the TV through the receiver. Ie repeating the signal. Which isn't needed when you connect it directly too your tv.

What it fixes is actually the implementation of Microsofts OPM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PVP-OPM)">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PVP-OPM). Which AMD and nVidia ignored to follow. That's why there wasn't support for it till Intel entered the picture and got Corel/WinDVD to implement it. Very much a software issue.

No doubt, it has something to do with passing through raw, pre-encoded audio, such as that found on Blue-Ray Discs (both lossy and lossless formats). This is so that you can properly connect your HTPC to your audio/video receiver through HDMI.

    Anandtech: Please explain/confirm.

I have a board with DTS Connect / DD Live so that I can connect games to my HT (Asus P5N32-E Plus). I'm passing it through my nVidia GTX 280 with the digital audio cable, but I doubt that it is a solution to my problem.

When connected directly to my TV, I noticed that Batman Begins sounds very different between my Playstation 3 and a different Blu-Ray equipped PC (using HP DVD Play or whatever the included BD playback software was). During the training sequence when Ducard tells Wayne "What happened to your parents was not your fault... ...it was your father's!", the second part was completely indecipherable on the PC but perfectly decipherable on my PS3. Even without high-end receivers, this sounds like a job for raw pass-through! Is this something that the new software and this chipset's "repeater" functionality will solve?
