Introduction

Welcome to the second installment of the CPU and Video Card Price Guide for June 2001. We publish this article to help you the consumer, find the best deals on the 'net. All the tedious work like finding the best prices and locating reputable retailers has already been done so all you have to do is figure out what product is right for you. As always we encourage the reader to investigate every retailer's reliability before ordering, but we have tried to eliminate typically problematic ones from our price guides.

This Week

There isn't much action again this week for Intel. The Pentium 4 line saw a mediocre drop in price this week. The Pentium III lineup saw virtually no change. However, the Celeron line is showing more promise...

AMD slashed prices significantly this week on all their CPU lines. The Athlon-C segment saw the biggest price reductions this week with DDR Athlons close to $100. The Athlon-B line also showed similar price trends. You can now buy a 1.0GHz processors for under $100.

There was not much action again this week in the video card portion of our guide. We see some more price hikes in PCI 3dfx products and a significant drop GeFroce2 Pro prices.
